Greetings! . Asanteni sana kuposti hiyo picha by George Kyomushulua. Hiyo instrument inaitwa 'nyatiti' and it comes from the Luo community in Kenya.Both the nyatiti lyre and the obokana lyre kutoka the Gusii community in western Kenya, were taboo for women to play traditionally. 

A Japanese artist, Anyango was the first woman to play nyatiti. Myself, Mama C, am the first woman to play obokano. Ati Sanna has kept the nyatiti in the public eye with her vigorous songs and bells and iron toe ring. She is my role model of the African Woman playing traditional music with her own vibe. 

Ati Sanna is my mentor on the nyatiti and Grandmaster Masese is my mentor and mwalimu on obokano. I look forward to sharing my music and that of Wakunga Zamani and more at the Jambo Festival!!!
